Patient, 76, sues hospital over broken pelvis

A woman aged 76, who uses a wheelchair after her pelvis was broken during a hip operation by a French doctor drafted in to help cut waiting lists, is suing the private hospital to which she was sent by an NHS trust.

Lillian Randall has needed three operations since she was operated on at Nuffield hospital, Chester, which admitted breach of duty. It said Dr Deep Ramborum's work fell "below acceptable levels". Paul Sankey, her solicitor, said: "UK medics answer to the General Medical Council, but questions must now be asked as to the accountability of such foreign surgery teams."
