The Family Planning Association is launching an advertising campaign to encourage over-25s to talk about and use condoms.
Called "Pillow talk", the campaign, created by ethical marketing and creative agency Feel, is particularly aimed at those people that might have a condom lurking in their wallet but do not feel comfortable mentioning it at the appropriate moment.
Posters for the campaign show white pillows emblazoned with slogans such as "No condom, no way", "I can do 69 positions but only one if you don't wear a condom", and "My other pillow is on the sofa".
The campaign is being launched as part of the FPA's Sexual Health Week, which will run from August 6-12.
For the marketing push, 2,000 campaign packs have been compiled incorporating six posters, and a leaflet containing advice on how to talk about condoms.
These packs have been sent to health and other professionals across the country including sexual health clinics, contraception clinics, NHS walk-in centres, pharmacists and primary care trusts.
"FPA is hitting an older audience of sexually active over-25s. Other sexual health campaigns tend to be aimed at young people," said the FPA press and campaigns manager, Rebecca Findlay.
"Just because people are in their 30s, doesn't mean they find talking about condoms any easier."
Chris Arnold, creative partner at Feel, added: "The idea came from the challenge of how could we get an ad into the bedroom. Using a fun approach has proven to be a highly effective way of getting under the radar and tackling what is a serious issue."
