Reinhold Messner is quite probably the world's hardest man. The first person to climb all 14 of the world's 8,000m mountains, he has a reputation for taking on the most dangerous peaks in the most arduous manner possible. He climbs without artificial oxygen, usually alone. On his first big Himalayan ascent, of Nanga Parbat, he lost seven toes and three fingers.
Now he has revealed an altogether softer side. The great man is launching a range of cosmetics called Messner Mountain Moments, which come in small packs perfect for travellers. There's a men's body cream, lip balm, hand cream and foam bath, and the products include extracts of hop, edelweiss, and other mountain flowers that grow in the South Tirol, Messner's home region of the Italian Alps.
