According to the World Health Organisation, 20 countries have officially reported 985 cases of influenza A (H1N1) infection. Mexico has 590 lab-confirmed cases and 25 deaths; the US 226 reported cases and one death. Canada has 85 confirmed cases with no deaths, while a further four cases have been reported in other parts of the Americas. In the UK, the Health Protection Agency has confirmed 27 infections. Across Europe, Spain has 40 confirmed cases, while other countries have confirmed a total of 16. The remaining nine confirmed cases are in Hong Kong, Israel, New Zealand and the Republic of Korea.
