If the relentless tide of bad news - failing economy/swine flu/melting icecaps - has left you in need of a pick-me-up, how about a restorative weekend in the Wiltshire countryside? Jiva Healing, which runs yoga and detox retreats in India and Europe, is opening its first UK centre this month at Littleton Mill near the village of Seend. Courses vary from the indulgent (a three-day Ayurvedic retreat) to the more scary sounding seven-day juice fast, and range in price from £275 for three days (shared room) to £850 for a week (single room) including all food, classes and accommodation at the 17th-century mill or in New House Farm, a local B&B (people who stay off site pay slightly less). It's a good chance to try out a retreat, without flying all the way to Goa.
