Have your say on … breastfeeding

The people's panel: Mothers are bombarded with advice about breastfeeding – but we'd like to hear from four readers about their views

The media offers a mixed picture on breastfeeding. One day, we tell you that six months of breastfeeding alone could harm babies, the next, that breastfed kids develop fewer behavioural problems. In France, breast is not best; in England, women often feel guilty if they don't breastfeed.

As part of our people's panel series, we would like to hear from four Comment is free readers who can tell us about whether they decided to breastfeed or use formula – and why. Did you decide to breastfeed after being told it was best for your baby, in accordance with World Health Organisation guidelines? Did you have trouble breastfeeding, and did you get any support? Did you choose formula from the get-go, for personal or practical reasons? Were you in a position to express milk in your workplace? And if you were yourself not breastfed, do you feel as if you missed out?

If you would like to participate, please email Jessica Reed (jessica.reed@theguardian.com) before 2pm on Wednesday 11 May, with a contribution of about 200-250 words. Please include your Comment is free username, your real name and a number we can contact you on.

We'll pick four entries for publication. The subject line of your email should be "People's panel". Please note that we may not be able to respond to all submissions.
