FGM campaigners and headteachers agree that the quickest way to get the message across is for Education Secretary Michael Gove to write to head teachers in all schools in the UK and empower them to take whatever actions they think necessary to end this practice.

Scotland's Education Minister, Michael Russell, has already agreed to write to all schools before the cutting season begins in July. But urgent action is now needed from Westminster.
We urge you to write to your MP asking for action to be taken before the 'cutting season' this summer. Find a list of MPs in areas where FGM is prevelant here.
The Guardian's campaign asks that every headteacher be given access to a reliable database of facts about the family origins of the girls at risk and a list of actions that a headteacher might take as they deem appropriate.

It is estimated 24,000 girls are at risk of FGM in the UK. The campaigns asks Michael Gove to write to every headteacher about FGM. Girls at risk of FGM can live anywhere in the UK and so it is important all headteachers have information about FGM and a letter from the Education Secretary that will empower them to take whatever action they feel is best for their own school.

Fahma is meeting the Education Secretary on Tuesday to discuss her campaign. Please write to the Education Secretary ahead of his meeting with Fahma to express your support for this campaign.
