Every week a Guardian Money reader submits a question, and it’s up to you to help him or her out – a selection of the best answers will appear in next Saturday’s paper.

This week’s question:

I’ve been put into my firm’s private healthcare scheme. For another £700 a year I could enroll my wife (38) and two girls (9 and 5). My wife wants to go in it but I reckon it’s probably a waste of money. Should we just put money aside (or rely on the NHS)?

What do you think?
