Could the key to a happy life be found in the north of England? Recent research carried out by estate agent Hamptons International suggests the north and remote areas of Scotland offer more in terms of happiness and affordability than southern regions of the UK. In its analysis Hamptons mapped out which areas of Britain have the most affordable homes and highest life satisfaction ratings using house-price-to-income ratios and the Life Satisfaction Index from the Office of National Statistics. To help us go beyond the statistics, we’d like to see your photos and hear about your experiences of living in the north.
- Do you agree with the research suggesting regions in the north of the country top the list in terms of both affordability and life satisfaction?
- If you have settled in a northern region, what are your favourite things about living there?
- Has this research given enough consideration to the deprived neighbourhoods of the north when reaching its conclusion?
Whether you have settled somewhere like Allerdale in north Cumbria, Lancashire’s Ribble Valley or in another urban or rural part of the north, we’d like to hear from you. Share your photos and experiences and we’ll feature the best contributions on the site.
