Against the odds, plastic surgery is beating the economic gloom. In the last 12 months, there were 38,274 operations – up from 36,482 the year before. The increase is sharper among men (7%, with a 28% increase for breast surgery alone) than women (5%).
In light of those numbers, we would like to publish the thoughts of readers who have either decided to undergo cosmetic surgery, or doctors involved in carrying out the procedures.
For those who have had surgery, we'd like to know about your thoughts and feelings before and after the process. As for doctors, we'd like to know how you think your practice has changed in the past decade: do you see patients with specific issues that you didn't encounter before? What are the biggest challenges facing your profession? It may be possible to publish submissions anonymously, if preferred.
If you would like to participate, please email Jessica Reed (jessica.reed@theguardian.com) with a few lines outlining your opinion, and please add your username and phone number if possible. Please note that we may not be able to respond to all submissions.
